Dr Kate Carr-Fanning, Ph.D.
B.A. (Hons), Ph.D., PGCE, CPsychol (BPS), FHEA
Assistant Professor and Director of Inclusive Education, the School of Education, University College Dublin (UCD)
I am an academic and a psychologist who specialises in inclusive education.
I am an academic in the School of Education in UCD, with a focus on research and teaching in the area of inclusive education. I am particularly interested in how we use psychology to understand and include learners with Additional Educational Needs (AEN) or neurodivergences.
I completed my B.A. (Hons) in Psychology before undertaking my Ph.D. in Psychology and Education from Trinity College Dublin. After which, I spent 10 years in England research and leading programmes in universities with a focus on psychology of education, inclusive education, and teacher education.
I am a Chartered Psychologist (CPsychol) with The British Psychological Society, and a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (HEA).
I actively work ‘with’ children and other stakeholders who are neurodivergent or otherwise affected by AEN to co-construct knowledge and practices that suit their needs. At the moment, I am a Director of ADHD Ireland and on the Board of Professional Advisors for ADHD Europe.
