TEACHING:

I am  passionate about education in the broadest sense of the word – the one where it takes many forms (e.g., formal and informal) and spans a lifetime. As a result, I feel privileged to work with learners in H.E. supporting the development of students in their quest for educational and personal advancement.

I am an Assistant Professor and the Director of Inclusive Education in the School of Education, University College Dublin

The focus of my programme leadership and teaching is the area of special and inclusive education across a range of professionals.

At present, I am the Programme Director for the MEd Inclusive Education and the Post-Graduate Diploma in Special and Inclusive Education. I also am responsible for inclusive education and education for students to additional needs within Initial Teacher Education (ITE) and on the Doctorate in Educational Psychology in UCD.

Within a H.E., both now and in the past, my teaching focus is on the application of psychology to inclusive education and SEN, with a particular focus on the below areas:

  • Special and inclusive education
  • Social, emotional, and/or mental health difficulties in education
  • Children and young people’s learning and development
  • Developmental differences
  • Inclusive interventions
  • Research methods

In particular, my specialism is in the application of psychological knowledge and research to inclusive education, and understanding and responding to additional educational needs.

I am a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (HEA).
